I have a few perfumes which make up my ‘scent-wardrobe’.  Miss Dior was my wedding perfume, and has remained a favourite for romantic date nights, Black Orchid by Tom Ford is deep and intense, so that’s my power-perfume, and the others all have their own place and occasion.  Some people have a signature scent, which is their staple, but I find perfumes to be similar to clothes, I love a pretty dress, and I love a cozy knit – I wouldn’t choose one over the other, but enjoy both at different times.

I was looking at a magazine recently and was very drawn to the Chloe Eau de Parfum, before I had even smelt it – which I suppose is the power of advertising.  It’s funny how liking a brand and a pretty bottle can encourage you to want their perfume.  Once worn, it just comes down to how it smells!

Interestingly most perfumes are associated with a fashion brand.  Of the top 10 French perfume brands (and we know that France is at the centre of the world of perfume) 7 are brands primarily known for fashion, including Dior, Givenchy and Balenciaga.  While perfume is a natural extension of a fashion house, alongside accessories and cosmetics, it also shows the power of branding.  For a lot of brands perfume has become the bread and butter of the business, while the clothes create the aesthetic and personality of the brand selling it.

According to Fashionspot the most popular 5 perfumes for women for 2018 are:

1- Chanel Chance Eau de Toilette

2 – Chanel Coco Madamoiselle Eau de Parfum

3 – Philosophy Amazing Grace Eau de Toilette

4 – Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau de Toilette

5 – Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau de Toilette

Whatever drove you to choose your favourite perfume, it can be a powerful thing.  It can change the way you feel in yourself and the impression you give to others.  We all know there is a strong link between scent and attraction, and as with fashion, perfume gives you the opportunity to choose how you want to express yourself and tailor the impression you create.
